Mac Properties Move-In Survey

Only complaint I had was it was unclear on where to get my keys and copy of my lease. I didn’t know it was at another building than when I met with leasing.

It's home, but it needs more of a homey vibe.

It's a great place to live, but it could be updated in a few areas.

Great!

Its really clean and quite. It is very important to do the laundry during the day because the laundry room is outside in the basement. Also, check the washers and dryers because sometimes they don't work and call the office immediately. I have been a resident in Cornell 5500 for five years and overall I have had a great experience.

Clean. Convenient. Affordable.

The maintenance workers are awesome. They respond quickly every time I have even the slightest problem, and they are always helpful and very friendly. The apartment itself is well maintained, especially considering the age of the building. The location is convenient, close to the Metra and bus lines, as well as to restaurants, groceries, and the university. The apartments are spacious, and the rent is very reasonable.

Terrible

Parking is terrible. There are no security cameras in the alley where I park. My car was burglarized and towed. Mac did very little to help or relieve the trauma I experienced. I requested to have my fridge and bathroom sink fixed months ago and no one ever came. There is very little care taken in this building. The laundry room is absolutely horrid- I'm afraid to even go down there. I had no idea this management company was like this until I moved in. Whenever someone asks me where I live, I tell them and they ask if Mac is my management company and when I answer yes the response is always about how terrible Mac is and they don't care about the residents. I completely agree and cannot wait until my lease is up.

For now, it is getting the job done.

The location is beyond perfect: less than a block to the 6, X28, 55, 171; 2 blocks from Treasure Island and Walgreens; Thai Row across the street. My unit is too small, but others are bigger. The halls look like you're in an old mental institution, but the apartments themselves are nice. You'll get use to the weird smell, a mix of Subway, cigarette smoke, and abrasive cleaners. And find something to cover the translucent glass in the front door... There is a hall light right by my door and its so bright that at night, with all my own lights off, I can actually see color in parts of my apartment.
