5411-5421 S. Ellis Avenue

Chicago, IL 60615

This long, narrow courtyard building both stands out and complements its neighbors: The yellow brick facade contrasts with the surrounding red, yet it reflects the same clean design and geometric details produced during the Arts & Craft movement. As a tribute to classic architecture, Greek pediments top the projected window bays. The courtyard, which brings natural light and fresh air to the buildings interiors, provides a private, landscaped respite with which to welcome you home.

Apartment Living

Amazing complex!! Close walk to Campus and the store. Management is quick to respond to questions and help in any way they can. I would definitely recommend living here.

A cool (and quiet) place.

Homey, college-y. People appear to be respectful of one another.

location good. Back light not fixed. never will get fixed.

Its pretty good except the back porch light is not fixed. I have made repeated requests for the light to be fixed over the last 6 months. Personnel in mac have told me repeatedly that it would be fixed.

good location, lighting not fixed for 5 months

That the location is good and that I have whined about the back porch light for 5 months and the light is still not fixed.

acceptable - if you're a student

Well, it's noisy. The heat is never on when you want it to be. The maintenance people who come to fix things are incredibly inefficient or sometimes don't even come at all. The resident manager is a lovely person who keeps saying lovely things like "I"m sorry you were inconvenienced," which doesn't really solve the problem.

Great neighborhood, bad apartments.

You'll have to put in maintenance requests at least twice for them to do anything. Be in work orders ASAP if something breaks. They also put in water saving faucets that make it harder to wash dishes. It extends an extra inch into the sink, so you'll have to wash big pots and pans in the bath tub.

Terrible.

That MAC had notified us that they would be rebuilding our porch starting in March, that our porch still has not been completed, that our back door is shut because mac is waiting passively to hear back from the city, that our kitchen floods everytime it rains and despite the fact that MAC tried to fix it 4 times they haven't been able to. The only person who seem competent among the 20 people I have talked to about this is Larry Sirridge, and honestly, I am beginning to feel embarrassed to call him with a problem. We have received 200 dollars of rent credit, which hasn't nearly been enough for all our troubles. As an entirely self-dependent international student who has no family here, I often feel powerless about this matter.
